PARENTS/GUARDIANS! EVERYONE
SHOULD VOLUNTEER. CYO is ALL
Voluntary. We need
Coaches, Referees, Scorers and Timers; High School Age and Up NO
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. We CANNOT
operate without your help. SPECIAL DAYS CYO must
accomodate the needs of the High Schools in using the gyms. We
must give up any days that they require. As such we often get
informed about their need after we have sent out our schedule.
Therefore we have to alter our schedule if the High Schools need
the gyms. HEAD
CONVENORS The
girls' head convenor is Paul Keating 767-2223 and the boys is Marti
Valeriote 836-6093. If you have any questions or concerns,
we ask you talk to the coach or division convenor first. If
you still need assistance or have a comment or question about the
program, please call Paul or Marti. SCORERS
TABLE Remember,
we are all volunteers, including the scorers. This year no one
can approach the scoring table at any time during the game. If
there is a discrepancy, only during a stoppage in play, may the
coach with a referee and/or convenor approach the scorers to
resolve the discrepancy. The convenors and
referees decision is final.
The SPECIAL CYO Day on January 23, 2010 was a GREAT success. Players enjoyed the
Jr. NBA Skills Contest, the Team/Player Photos and Team Pizza Dinners on this day.

The contest involves competing in a series of timed fundamental basketball skills tests, which include passing, dribbling and shooting. Overall the event involves more than 100,000 participants throughout Canada and the United States.
Alex won the right to compete in Florida in a contest at the Toronto Raptor’s Practice Gym at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto on March 29. He advanced to this competition by winning the 11-12 Year Old Boys Division at the local CYO Skills Competition held in February.
In Toronto Alex competed against players from across Ontario who had won their local events. Those who were invited to Toronto were given prizes including 2 tickets to the Raptor game. Alex, in winning that event, was recognized at Half Time in a ceremony on the floor of the Air Canada Centre along with Raptor star, Chris Bosh.
The Toronto event was one of 35 Regional Jr. NBA competitions held across North America. The top 4 competitors overall in each age category from the Regionals won all expense paid trips to Orlando from the Jr. NBA office in Atlanta, Georgia. They will compete in the gym of the Orlando Magic and will stay at the Hard Rock Cafe Resort in Universal Studios.
Due to his outstanding performance in Toronto, Alex qualified as one of the top 4 competitors in his category. His CYO background and hard work has clearly contributed to his success in the competition.
